Mukai Farm & Garden is a cultural gathering place that honors Vashon’s Japanese American agricultural heritage on Vashon.
B.D. Mukai, born in Japan in 1887, came to America when he was 16 years old. After experiencing different jobs in different areas, he moved to Vashon in 1910. He did so well raising Marshall strawberries that by 1921 he was known locally as “The Strawberry King”. To learn more about the history, come to the open house and/or click here.
The Mukai Farm & Garden is located less than a mile west of Vashon’s town center. Come to tour the property, view the work to restore it to its former significance as an afternoon break from the festival crowd!
The ground and the house will be open on Saturday, July 20th, 1-4pm.
